Eugene is 3. He is cute! Unless God provides, he will not be able to attend school. Although there are no official school fees in Kenya, uniforms, exam fees, and hidden costs make it impossible for many of his age group to get an education.
He lives near Goibei, in a house with an old tin roof and mud walls, covered with a sheer coat of cement. Our car causes him utter panic – he runs to Mom and jumps up into her arms. He has little interaction with “foreigners”, but he is gradually warming up to us.
He spends the day with other children walking through the long grass, avoiding snakes, and watching the monkeys. His life will never progress beyond this state unless something happens.
How can we help?
Our Guest House, Conference and Retreat Centre has just resolved to set aside 10% of our income for a scholarship fund. And Eugene is on the list! As groups continue to come and stay with us, they will be helping children like Eugene.
Our ten families have also enjoyed the extra income in the form of bonuses! Their culture already welcomes visitors with joy and hospitality, but the promise of increased income adds to their zeal to entertain groups.
So our ten families and little kids like Eugene have a higher standard of living because of the help from Goibei. And from you, as you support our ministry. God bless.
