It was a start…
When we announced to Cedarview church that we had been asked to return to Kenya, the immediate response was positive and encouraging. But what about the budget we would have to raise?
Well, the first donation was from a little girl, who gave Marge ten cents. Ten cents! It was a great beginning. It showed us that God would provide from the least expected source. And it demonstrated the generosity of those who pray for us.
This is not the first time we have received this kind of donation. In 1988 we drove through rebel-held territory in Uganda to teach in a town called Soroti, Uganda. An elderly African lady hesitantly approached me, and gave me the local equivalent of fifty cents. What a sacrifice >from someone who had so little.
We have now reached a large enough portion of our budget to permit us to leave. They probably won’t hand us parachutes over the Sahara because of shortage of funds…..
The little girl with the ten cents is something like us. We are offering what we have, our lives. Not much, but the best we have.
Thanks for thinking of us.
