The Need

It is surprising to learn that after hundreds of years of missionary activity, there are still many unreached people-groups in East and central Africa.

Unreached People-Groups of Over 100,000 Population (Each)

There are groups that were exposed to the Bible years ago, but experienced no follow-up. They think they are Christian, but do not understand what salvation is, or how our lives should change.

Then there are the peoples who were converted to Islam by the sword, centuries ago.

childAnother group is Arabic Muslim. Reaching them is a priority.

And the need is there. In sub-Saharan Africa 41% of the population lives on less than $1 per day, 29% of the children border on malnourishment, 30% of eligible children are not in school, the death rate is 5 times higher than in Canada, the life expectancy is 62% of North America’s, a woman has 238 times the chance of dying in childbirth than in Canada, and only 42% of people have clean water.

In Sudan, 58% of the population is unreached for Christ.

In Burundi, that number is 25%.

Studies indicate there are 50 unreached people groups within a few hours’ drive from Uganda.

Think of the impact of changing the lives of leaders in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the BBC states that there have been 5.4 million preventable deaths during the last 10 years.

womanThe need is there. The experience is theirs. The wherewithal depends on you.

Pray for the MacGowans as they go to Uganda to train missionaries to reach Africa, to prepare for Christ’s return.
